In this beginner series video I’ll show you how to turn on your snowboard. Turning allows you to control your snowboards speed, and use both edges of your snowboard to turn around the mountain. Before trying to turn be sure you have watched the previous snowboard videos in the series. They will give you the skills you need to turn your snowboard successfully. First try turning your snowboard on a very easy beginner slope. You can even get a friend to give you a hand for the first few turns.Practice turning your snowboard with focus on the three parts that complete the turn, letting you snowboard go straight, turning your body and pressuring your new edge. If you still have trouble learning how to try going back and practice sliding on your edges. Snowboarding is about having fun, so learn to turn at a pace you are comfortable with.

My problem is that, after a successful turn, I can never get my board to go straight, I always somehow lose my balance and I try to turn before my board is straight, and therefore I always fall. Any tips on how to get my board going straight after a turn?

Every time I get on my toe edge my board just flips right back to my heal edge and I can not seem to stay on my toes. What am I doing wrong? I can ride heal side no problem. But can't for the life of me figure out how to get on my toes and stay there.

Hey kevin, I have a problem turning from heel into toe turn. Putting my weight on my front foot when I'm on my heel edge is causing me going to fast and can't control my speed anymore, then falling. What can I do?

Hey so i ride goofy and every time i try to turn onto my toe edge it feels like my edge is being pulled down by the snow. Any suggestions? Also thanks for the vids they are really helpful and entertaining keep it up.

hey! thanks for the vid! it's helpful..but i'm still a bit confused on how to make turns – only because every time i try to do what you outline-i end up falling backwards. I can go down the mountain backwards but as soon as i try to snowboard forwards, i fall. do you have any tips for me to make it a more smooth transition into zigzagging rather than just going down backwards all the way? – thanks 🙂

I'm learning how to turn. It's easy for me turning from heel side to toe side. I just can successfully sometimes when I try toe to heel. My right leg(in the back) can't follow up when I want to turn to heel side.

Thank you, I had my first lesson for turning yesterday which was semi successful. This video simplifies the 3 moves and makes total sense. I will back on the slope on Sunday to practice.

I cannot get that toe turn. I can't balance correctly when I do that turn. I keep catching an edge or falling. I'm not sure where to put the pressure or what part of my body I should lead with. Or maybe I'm just thinking too much. Lol.

I'm a beginner snowboarder and I'm having issues turning on-command but I think I'm settling into the technique slowly but surely. Right now I'm wondering if I should I be trying to turn both ways even when riding with my off leg in front(switch)? and sometimes my wrong edge catches when im trying to turn but I think that is just a part of being new lol

I am learning j turns. they were weird at first, but it got easier. You just need to have confidence in yourself. Snowboarding is very fun, but it is complicated at first, but you'll get the hang of it. I love snowboarding!!!!!! 🙂 <3

should toe and heel sliding be learned first before turning? I strangely use too much of my upper body when turning and I'm pretty sure it's not correct posture

    Hi guys, great videos!
Quick question: I'm trying to go from turning to carving. But I always do a complete turn like the guy in the video, I can't stop halfway through the turn and go in the other direction to carve. How would you recommend I get there? Thank you!

SOS I'm at steamboat springs, Colorado and all of the green trails are narrow. I'm ok at turning but need more space… I try to use an edge to slow down but tend to go in one direction. Help!

Excellent video, especially the part then you have to turn your body along with your hands and look straight to the direction you want to make the snowboard follow. I learnt something today. Thanks and I have already subscribed 🙂

How would you suggest turning/speed management when going down a steep hill that is 8,000 feet high? I'm a day old beginner but I advanced really quickly and started doing advanced trails fairly quickly. I didn't have a trainer, and learned from these kinds of videos. I ate it about 12 times going down those 8,000 feet mainly because I didn't know how to manage my speed and didn't understand how to turn properly to manage the speed the hill is influencing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
